The New Art School

This fall, the art room at the Center for the Arts has a whole new look! Clean and uncluttered, the transformation reflects a change in the art school's curriculum: a unique focus on drawing as the pivotal foundation to all other creative and artistic endeavors. To learn to look closely at the world around you, to learn to see it in new way and to translate that into a two- dimensional drawing is a powerful tool that can be utilized throughout life.

Open to anyone, of any age interested in study of art, from around the tristate, our classes start with beginning drawing, painting & printmaking. Classes at VIVA are small and sequential so that each student’s knowledge will be built upon as they move through classes.

Offering a strong foundation in visual arts, VIVA students can further broaden their abilities in Photography, Ceramics, Computer Graphic Design, Bookbinding, Portfolio Development and more. VIVA instructors meet students at their skill level, build on past experiences, and challenge them creatively while developing critical thinking skills… all within a safe, energizing and supporting environment.
